Abstract
496,555. Sealing conductors into vitreous envelopes. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. May 31, 1937, No. 14996. Convention date, May 29, 1936. [Class 36] An envelope for an electron - discharge device having a mount provided with radial leads comprises a pair of cup-shaped members 20, 22, preferably of vitreous material, with outwardly flared annular lips 21, 23 respectively provided with radially extending depressions 24, 25 adapted to be positioned in registry to receive the radial leads 16 of the mount when the cupshaped members are brought together for assembly. The lips are sealed together by heating them until the vitreous material flows around the leads 18 and then pressing the lips together. The envelope is exhausted through a tube 26 which is subsequently sealed.
