Abstract
418,220. Discharge devices. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, CHENEY, H., Shenstone Avenue, and DAVIES, L. J., 147, Murray Road, both in Rugby. April 19, 1933, No. 11475. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i).] In a vapour-filled discharge device such as a lamp, the leading-in wires are sealed into the press of a flared tubular stem, the flare of which is subsequently sealed to the envelope so that the interior of the stem communicates with the interior of the envelope. The stem may be shaped to obtain a hemispherical seal which can be formed on the normal lamp-making machine. The cathode core, which becomes oxidized during the making of the stem, is subsequently cleaned, mechanically or chemically, and coated with electron-emitting material.
