Abstract
449,862. Discharge lamps. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Feb. 25, 1936, No. 5648. Convention date, Feb. 26, 1935. [Class 39 (i)] A high-pressure metalvapour lamp has an envelope of increasing diameter towards the upper end and the upper electrode 12 farther from the top of the envelope than the bottom electrode 13 is from the bottom. The filling consists of argon at 8 mm. pressure and a small amount of mercury, the pressure during working being at least one atmosphere. The electrodes are held on tungsten supports 14 by wires 15, 17 and consist of blocks of tungsten impregnated with barium or strontium oxide or a mixture thereof. Specification 158,488, [Class 39 (i)], is referred to.
