(Class 39 (i)] In a high-pressure, metalvapour, projection, discharge lamp having an approximately spherical envelope the electrodes 5, 6 are located with the discharge column below the envelope centre, so that the image 8 formed by the envelope of the discharge 7 is prevented from showing outside the envelope, it falling on the electrode. The filling of rare gas and mercurywhich evaporates completely -works at 40 atmospheres.
