Abstract

616,404. Metal vapour lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., ISAACS, G. G., and NELSON, E. H. Sept. 4, 1946, No. 26557. [Class 39 (i)] A high-pressure metal vapour discharge lamp of the type described in Specification 600,495 has three electrodes, of which two, 11, 12, are shown, suitable for operation from a threephase source; the electrodes are disposed at the corners of an equilateral triangle and may be 20 mm. apart. The electrodes 11, 12 may be tapering tungsten bars extending perpendicularly from supporting rods 14, 15 fixed to the envelope and disposed parallel to one another. The rods carry activating material 18 for starting. The filling may consist of 2.4 gms. mercury and 1.2 gms. zinc or of 2.4 gms. mercury, 0.8 gms. cadmium and 0.4 gms. zinc. Specification 485,489 also is referred to.
