Abstract

380,895. Arc - discharge devices. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, DAVIES, L. J., 147, Murray Road, and KNIGHT, H. DE B., 108, Eastlands Road, all in London. July 28, 1931, No. 21561. [Class 39 (i).] The arc discharge is confined within a tube 7, Fig. 1, one end of which is joined to an anode shield 6, the other end terminating adjacent a thermionic cathode 3. The tube 7 may be of quartz. In a modification, the shield 6, Fig. 2, is sealed to the envelope which is constricted at that portion lying between the tube 7 and the cathode. A heat shield 9 is provided for the cathode. Specification 268,046, [Class 39 (i), Electric lamps, Arc &c.], is referred to.
