Abstract
378,748. Metallic-vapour rectifiers. SIEMENS - SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.- GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Dec. 15, 1931, No. 34761. Convention date, Feb. 5. [Class 39 (i).] In concentric anode shields 2, 3, 4, Fig. 1, of the type in which the distance between the free end of a shield and the anode is proportional to the diameter of the shield, the ends of the shields are closed by grids 5, 6, 7. The potential differences between the shields may be adjusted, for example to obtain a uniform stepping of potential, by connecting them together through resistances or capacities, or by suitably dimensioning the shields, or by filling with a suitable dielectric, to different extents, the spaces therebetween. The shields may be assembled telescopically, Fig. 2. The resistances or capacities may be mounted within the rectifier, preferably within the insulators 8, Fig. 2, which register the shields with respect to each other. The shields may consist of perforated sheet metal or of wire gauze and the grids may be insulated therefrom, or connected thereto to form a closed wire basket.
