Abstract
390,500. Condensers. STAVE, C. H., 182, Church Street, Kensington, London. Sept. 2, 1931, Nos. 24637 and 32247. [Class 38 (ii).] Screening-enclosures for wireless components, such as coils, condensers, &c. have their metallic surfaces broken up or interrupted to hinder the formation of eddy currents and to reduce the mass of metal. As shown in Fig. 3, the screen a3 is slotted in zigzag fashion, but the slits may be rectilinear and in the axial or circumferential direction. The slits may also be formed in a metal lining within an insulating case, or may be formed by combing metallic point applied to an insulating case. In alternative constructions, the screens are formed of expanded metal, gauze, woven wire or ribbon either of metal or metallized paper, fibre, &c. The metal or alloy employed may be of high resistance.
