Abstract
563,776. Thermionic valves. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Feb. 26, 1943, No. 3167. Convention date, May 12, 1942. [Class 39 (i)] In order to positior the electrodes in accurate fashion relatively to one another, in the fabrication of thermionic valves, an an. nular grid supporting plate 15, Fig. 1, is centred in relation to a tubular glass member 10, forming part of the envelope, by means of a block 14 with a stop flange 21, and is sealed between the end 12 of the tubular member and a glass plate 17. The block 14 is hollow and functions to centre and position the cathode 19, carried by the plate 17, relatively to the grid support. The anode 22, Fig. 2, is carried by a metal plate 23 and is similarly centred and sealed in a second. tubular glass member 10a forming the complementary part of the envelope, the two parts of which are assembled with their open ends abutting and the edges of laterally extending flanges 11, 11a sealed together. Evacuation of the space enclosed by these flanges is facilitated by the notches 13, 13a in the abutting edges of the parts 10, 10a.
