Abstract

521,049. Insulators. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Nov. 11, 1938, No. 32865. Convention date, Dec. 1, 1937. [Class 36] [Also in Groups XL and XXVI] The insulators 63, Fig. 2, for the leads to the electrodes of an electric discharge tube are connected to the leads and to a member- 21 by evacuated joints using metal washers as described in Specification 481,760. In the modification shown in Fig. 4. the insulator 81 has flanges 82, 83 which engage respectively the flange 7<1> carried by the discharge tube and a member 92 supporting the lead 78. Both joints are cooled and provided with evacuated channels 15, 93. Instead of the integral flanges on the insulator, metal rings may be connected around the ends of the insulator by soldering with or without interengaging groove and tenon connections.
