[Class 38 (ii)] In grid-regulated arc-discharge devices, heavy current surges on initiation of the arc due to discharge of the anode lead capacity (indicated by the condensers 25, 26, 27) or of the distributed capacity of the windings of the supply transformer 19 are prevented by the insertion of resistances 17 and/or inductances 18 into the anode cathode circuit, either in the anode leads as shown or in the cathode lead.
