Abstract

397,216. Thermionic valves. POLLAK, J. E., 20, Holborn, London.-(Pintsch Akt.- Ges., J. ; 71, Andreasstrasse, Berlin.) March 9, 1932, No. 7059. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v).] A short-wave generating circuit, operating on the Barkhausen-Kurz principle comprises a thermionic valve in which are contained a cathode, a braking electrode and two or more coaxial grid helices which latter are supplied with the same positive potential which is higher than that applied to the other electrodes. The helices 17, 18 may be short-circuited by yoke 15 inside or outside the tube. The support 16 may act as a current lead, or leads 20, 21 may be taken out through the tube. The coils 17, 18 may be of different diameter and may have different pitches. They may be provided with separate connections and may be coupled to di-poles or to a Lecher wire system. The third, or " braking " electrode 22 may be replaced by a magnetic field.
