Abstract
239,511. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Kearsley, W. K.). Sept. 2, 1924, [Convention date]. Addition to 170,546. R÷ntgen-ray apparatus. - In the apparatus of the parent Specification comprising a supply circuit 18 for the tube and a heating circuit 10 for the cathode containing a vibratory regulator 19 shunting a resistance 14. the regulator is provided with a single actuating coil 17 connected directly by lines 38, 39 to the main supply circuit 3, 4. Increases or decreases in the voltage of the circuit 3, 4 respectively decrease or increase the periods during which the resistance 14 is shortcircuited so that the temperature of the cathode is maintained constant regardless of voltage changes in the circuit 3, 4, constancy of electron emission from the cathode and of quantity X-ray output being produced in carefully exhausted tubes with constant internal conditions. Selfrectifying Coolidge tubes as shown, or tubes! having a rectifier in the circuit between the cathode and anode may be used. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the arrangements described in the parent Specification and refers to electron discharge apparatus generally. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
