Abstract
252,120. M³ller, C. H. F. (Firm of]. May 18, 1925, [Convention date]. R÷ntgen-ray tubes.-An incandescent-cathode tube has a focussing member connected to a control device which varies the electric or magnetic field between the focussing member and cathode so that the focus automatically expands when the current through the tube increases. In one arrangement, the secondary winding of a supply transformer 1 is connected directly to the anode 2 of the tube and through a resistance 3 to the cathode 4. The focussing-member 6 is connected to the anode 10 of a thermionic valve, of which the filament cathode 8 is connected to the cathode of the X-ray tube, while the grid 9 is connected to the end of the resistance 3 remote from the X-ray tube. In another arrangement the resistance 3 is replaced by the primary winding of a transformer, the secondary of which is shunted by a resistance and is connected to the cathode and focussing member of the X-ray tube.
