Abstract
257,281. Liebermann, M., (trading as Mutler, C. H. F. [Firm of]). (Assignee of Raffler, F. R. von). Aug. 21, 1925, [Convention date]. R÷ntgen-ray tubes.-An adjustable potential applied to an auxiliary electrode of a Rontgenray tube is supplied by a transformer and rectified by a thermionic valve. As shown in Fig. 1, the auxiliary electrode 1 consists of a metal shell surrounding the filament 3, and connected with the filament 5 of the valve. The filaments are connected with secondary windings 9, 10 respectively of a transformer. The secondary 12 of a transformer is connected with the anode 7 and through a condenser 14 shunted by a resistance 15 with the filament 5, a direct connection being also made with the filament 3. In a modification the winding 10 is mounted on the same transformer as the secondary 12, and is connected in series with an iron-wire resistance compensating for variations in the supply voltage. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2 for ensuring that the time of maximum potential on the auxiliary electrode 19 coincides with that of the anode 17, the valve is provided with two anodes 22 connected with a secondary winding 12<a>, the midpoint of which is connected with the filament 18. A condenser 14a is connected between the electrode 19 and the filament 18. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the application to discharge tubes generally. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
