Abstract

612,470. Thermionic valves. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. May 24, 1946, No. 15820. Convention date, May 28, 1945. [Class 39 (i)] An electron discharge device, e.g. an ultrahigh-frequency transmitting tube. of the type described in Specification 590,507, has a bulb portion 1, anode 3, grid 4, cathode 5, grid ring 6, shield 17 and dish-shaped header 2. Through the header are sealed radially disposed lead-in structures 7, 8 connected to the spiral cathode filaments terminating at a central castle element 11 carried by a support rod 12. This is joined to a perforated tubular support member 13 which passes coaxially through the central exhaust opening, its flanged upper end overlapping and being joined to a metal cup 14 bonded to the header. Sealed to the bottom of this cup is the exhaust tubulation 10, the perforations 16 in the tubular member 13 permitting evacuation of the envelope.
