Abstract

[Class 39 (i)] A pentode comprises a screen grid G2 mounted upon an annular disc SG2 intermediate vitreous portions B1, B2 of the envelope, an anode A sealed to the other end of the vitreous portion B2, a cathode F and control grid G1 mounted on leads SF, SG1 sealed in the vitreous portion B1, , and a suppressor grid G3 mounted on a lead SG3 passing through and supported by the anode. If the output circuit is enclosed within a screen connected to the screen grid, the suppressor grid may be biassed negatively with respect to the anode without interrupting the screening between the input and output circuits. The anode has an end portion of smaller diameter coaxially surrounding the suppressor grid lead SG3 and supporting it by means of a glass collar B3. The anode carries cooling fins.
