475,772. Cathode-ray tubes. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. April 12, 1937, No. 10417. Convention date, April 14, 1936. [Class 39 (i)] In a cathode-ray tube having an oxide cathode 2 and a fluorescent screen 3, the fluorescent substance of which contains a sulphur compound, e.g. zinc sulphide or zinc cadmium sulphide, a gas - binding substance, such as an alkaline-earth metal, is provided between the cathode and the screen. In the construction shown, an annular area 4 of alkaline-earth metal is provided on the wall of the tube ; this serves to bind any sulphur vaporizing from the screen.
