Abstract
516,620. Cathode-ray tubes. BOSCH, F. J. G. VAN DEN. June 2, 1938, No. 16609. [Class 39 (i)] A cathode-ray tube comprises. a screen of the type which is rendered luminous by incandescence and is composed of a layer of high melting point metal or metallic compound in finely divided form carried on quartz glass. In the form shown, the tube has a quartz end 23 secured to the body by a graded seal 26 and coated with a finely divided layer 24 of molybdenum, tungsten or tantalum carbide, which is incorporated in or upon the quartz by fusion. A finely divided fluorescent material, such as zinc sulphide may be mixed with the metal or metallic compound. The tube includes an electron multiplier of the form described in Specification 516,621, viz., a number of perforated secondary-emitting electrodes 17 on to which electrons from the cathode 10 are directed by a reflector 14 through control grids 12, 13. Specification 424,632 also is referred to.
