Abstract
517,643. Electron multipliers. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. Aug. 4, 1938, No. 23076. Convention date, Aug. 7, 1937. [Class 39 (i)] In a secondary-emitting electrode-the surface of which is of caesium or other alkali metal compound-a material, other than an oxide, is placed under this caesium or compound so that during operation if the compound is reduced by bombardment, for example, and the metal caesium &c. produced, this metal will combine with the underlying material thereby preventing volatilization of the caesium on to other parts of the multiplier. The material may be silver chloride, molybdenum sulphide, sulphur-iron, lead or tin.
