Abstract
615,177. Cathode-ray tubes. RAULAND CORPORATION. July 31, 1946, No. 2284S. Convention date, Dec. 29, 1945. [Class 39 (i)] A cathode-ray tube has a neck portion 2 axially symmetrical relative to a concave fluorescent screen 5 and a lens system 16 ... 19 is disposed on the same side of the screen as the beam and symmetrically relative to the neck portion and the screen. Preferably, the lenses are apertured and threaded on to the neck portion. The light from screen 5 passes through the window portion 3 which may be flat or curved and is provided with a transparent conductive coating 7 continuous with the wall coatings 6 and 15. Other parts of the envelope may be of metal. Cooling fins may be arranged on the envelope behind the screen. The curvature of the screen is such that its centre is at the centre of deflection of the beam, and it also corrects the field distortion inherent in the lens system.
