Abstract

522,125. Pulverized-fuel burners. HURLEY, T. F. Dec. 6, 1938, No. 35491. [Class 75 (i)] A conical tube 1 through which a mixture of powdered fuel and primary air is supplied to a furnace is formed at its larger end with openended slots 2 for the admission of air from a chamber 4 which also supplies secondary air to the furnace through an annular space 6 between the tube 1 and furnace wall 5. The tube 1 is provided with a flange 3 by which it is secured to chamber 4. The slots 2 may be cut at an angle to cause whirling of the mixture and may be regulable by a rotatable sleeve. Suitable dimensions are stated.
