334,755. Babcock & Wilcox, Ltd., (Fuller-Lehigh Co.). Oct. 14, 1929. Pulverulent-fuel burners.-A, pulverulent-fuel burner comprises a fuel pipe 6 having its end 7 disposed adjacent a hole in the furnace wall, a deflector 9 for whirling the fuel carried by a support 8 adjustable in the fuel tube, a refractory ring 13 lining the hole in the furnace wall and presenting an abrupt shoulder 14 adjacent the pipe end 7 and farther from the furnace than the deflector 9, and a casing 3 for supplying combustion air around the pipe 6. The air strikes the shoulder 14 and is deflected towards the pipe end 7 so as to mix with the fuel. An apertured disc 10 is adjustable in the fuel tube 6 by means of bolts 11.
