Abstract

Liquid-fuel furraaces.-In a water-tube boiler furnace, having a number of liquid fuel burners, air is supplied under pressure to the burner casings through independent passages 3, Fig. 1, supplied from ducts 1, 2 one wall 3<a> of the duct 2 being swept in an easy curve around the burner to form a volute the free end of such wall being coincident with the wall 3b of the duct 2 which in turn is tangential to the firing opening. The air from the passages 3 passes, as shown in Fig. 4, through the air director 4 and through perforations 10 in a conical extension 9 of the air director to the firing opening 8. The burner 5 is provided with a cone 7 and a cone 6 is provided on the furnace front. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, a common duct 14 supplies all the burner casings, the inlet branch for the upper casing being formed by plates 2<a> surrounding the inlets 2 and passages 3 of the lower casings. In a further modification each burner casing is supplied by a separate and similar duct from the main supply conduit. Specifications 157,679 and 223,948 are referred to.
