Abstract

406,605. Liquid, gaseous, and pulverulent fuel furnaces. JOHNSON, J., Northumbria, Golf Side, Cheam, Surrey, and WOODESON, W. A., Victoria Works, Gateshead-on-Tyne. Sept. 13, 1933, No. 25385. Addition to 391,466. [Class 51 (i).] In a modification of the combustion unit described in the parent Specification, the single walled chamber is formed of a frusto-conical metal casing 1, the smaller end of which has a flat-closure 4, provided with one set of air inlets and fitted with the fuel supply pipe 5, the other set of air inlets at the larger end being formed by vanes 9 extending between flanges 8. The air inlets are controlled by slidable regulators 10, 12. Alternatively, the regulator 12 may be perforated and rotatable. The vanes 9 may bo shaped, and curved vanes may be fitted behind the plate 4, for imparting a swirling motion to the air. A refractory lining 7 may be provided.
