Abstract
408,550. Furnace fronts. BOLT, F. L., 15, Latimer Street, Tynemouth, and WALLSEND SLIPWAY & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., Wallsend-on-Tyne. Nov. 28, 1933, No. 33265. [Class 51 (i).] In a liquid or pulverized-fuel furnace front of the kind in which air passes to the furnace both through and externally of a tube 2 surrounding the burner 11, the supply of air through the tube is controlled by a dish-shaped valve 7 slidably mounted on the burner-carrier 3 and having its concave face presented towards the inlet end of the tube 2. The valve is operated by a handle 8. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the frusto-conical extension 1 of the tube 2 carries a baffle ring 14 and is formed with vanes 5 which impart a whirling motion to the air entering the furnace through apertures 4. Fig. 2 shows a modification in which vanes 13 are disposed between the inner end of the tube 2 and an outer cylinder 12. Specification 361,779 is referred to.
