Abstract
356,390. Liquid fuel furnaces. HOWDEN & CO., Ltd., J., 195, Scotland Street, Glasgow, and HUME, J. H., Caxton House, Westminster. July 19, 1930, No. 21861. [Class 51 (i).] A furnace front equipped with a fuel burner mounted in a carrier 8 comprises a casing 1 having an outer circumferential w a 11 within which is a cylindrical air director 7 and an air inlet 2 at the bottom provided with a horizontally pivoted damper 3 adapted to divide the entering air stream into two portions one of which passes through a divided port 5 into an annular superheating chamber 4 while the other passes to the director 7. The superheated air passes from the chamber 4 through a divided port 6 to a cylindrical casing 12 under the control of a sliding sleeve 9 operated by handles 11. The two streams are maintained separate by a partition 10 which, however, may be fitted with a register (not shown) to permit part of the superheated air to enter the furnace with the unsuperheated air.
