Abstract

522,693. Furnace fronts. HOWDEN & CO., Ltd., J., and NELOON, W. Dec. 13, 1938, No. 36289. [Class 51 (i)] A forced draught furnace front adapted for liquid or pulverulent fuel and exhaust gas firing comprises an outer casing 1 enclosing a chamber divided into upper and lower compartments 3, 4 by a.horizontal partition 2, the upper compartment being provided with a burner 5 and air director 10 and air admission valves 7 mounted on vertical spindles 13. A damper disc 12 controls admission of air to the air director. Exhaust gases are supplied to the lower compartment 4 through a conduit 8 controlled by a valve 9. During firing by exhaust gases the valves 7 and damper 12 are closed.
