Abstract
525,725. Liquid fuel burners. BLANCHARD, P. L. C. Feb. 27, 1939, No. 6415. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1938. [Class 75 (i)] In a mechanical atomizing liquid-fuel burner the fuel is supplied through a passage 5 to ducts 4 opening substantially tangentially into a chamber 3 having a plane front wall provided with an atomizing orifice 2, the chamber 3 being of increasing depth from the periphery inwards. This increasing depth may be obtained by forming the rear end of the chamber 3 of conical or hyperboloidal shape. Return conduits may be formed centrally and peripherally of the rear end of the chamber to enable the discharge from the burner to be regulated and the rear end of the chamber may be movable axially to enable the'size of the chamber to be varied. This movement may uncover additional inlet ducts to the chamber. An axial needle may be provided projecting through the discharge orifice. The end of the needle may be tapered or flared.
