Abstract

1,101,853. Burners. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. 1 Sept., 1965, No. 37335/65. Heading F4T A burner comprises an annular conical channel 5 discharging a fuel/oxidant mixture into a flame chamber 1 having a conical bottom 2, the apical angle of the channel 5 being less than the apical angle of the bottom 2. The channel 5 is formed between a conical opening in the bottom 2 and a central conical element 4 which may be water-cooled. Air is delivered to the inlet end of the channel 5 and fuel is delivered to a slit 13 in the outer wall of the channel 5. The bottom 2 is cooled by circulating water in an annular space 14 and the end wall 6 of the flame chamber is also cooled by circulating water.
