1,145,234. Gas/liquid fuel burners. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. 29 Dec., 1967, No. 59246/67. Heading F4T. A gas and/or liquid fuel burner comprises an atomizer 1 at the outlet end of a liquid fuel pipe 2 and concentric annular channels 6, 9, 12 for respectively primary air, gaseous fuel and secondary air, the burner extending into a throat 4 of a combustion chamber 5 and there being at the outlet end of gaseous fuel channel 9 a conical or trumpet shaped deflector 10. Air passes into the channels 6 and 12 from an air register 8. Air doors 13 can induce a swirling action to the secondary air entering the throat. The ratio of the widths of channels 6 and 9 is between 3: 1 and 10: 1.
