Abstract

1278577 Industrial burner BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 10 Nov 1969 [3 Dec 1968 26 March 1969] 57249/68 and 15835/69 Heading F4T A burner suitable for burning waste materials which are gaseous or conveniently convertible to the gaseous phase comprises a flow tube 10, a coanda nozzle 14 positioned adjacent the inlet end 11 so that the fuel flow stays close to the wall of the flow tube, and a baffle 15 positioned adjacent the outlet end of the tube 10 which in use deflects the flow to aid mixing of the air and fuel. The fuel is introduced through an inlet 13 into a fuel chamber 12 which surrounds the inlet end 11. The baffle may take the form of a central deflector as shown or (Fig. 2) a tapered tube. A burner modified for vaporizable fuels (Fig. 3) includes a vaporizer positioned in the combustion zone which vaporizes the fuel before reaching the fuel chamber.
