Abstract

Cyclonic combustion apparatus for liquid, gaseous or pulverulent fuels comprises a substantially conical burner chamber 1 having a coaxial fuel inlet 2 at its narrow end, and a coaxial gas outlet into a cylindrical combustion chamber 7 at its wider end, and a plurality of nozzles 3, 4, 5, 6 opening substantially tangentially into the chamber 1 for introducing combustion air. Further combustion air may be introduced through nozzles 8 opening obliquely into the combustion chamber 7. Projections (9), Fig. 2 (not shown), on the wall of the chamber 1, control the circulation of air within the chamber and maybe adjustableinheight. In another arrangement, Fig. 3 (not shown), the burner chamber may be substantially parabolic in shape.
