Abstract

1344810 Gas burners JUNKERS & CO GmbH 7 April 1972 [8 April 1971] 16184/72 Heading F4T A burner for a gas-fired apparatus comprises a distributer pipe 11 having elongate burners 10, the pipe being supplied with gas from a gas inlet (14) in a connection member 13 connected to the pipe 11, and air being supplied to the connection member through an air inlet port 174, the port having a sound-damping device 17 connected thereto. The distributer pipe 11 extends transversely of the burners 10 and the connection member 13 is inserted into the underside of the pipe 11 and acts as a support assembly. Gas enters via the inlet (14) into the portion 131 of the connection member and then proceeds through the injector nozzles 15 exchangeably inserted into each end wall of the connection member. The injector nozzles are each aligned with a respective contiguous injector pipe 16 extending in opposite directions within the distributer pipe 11, and in this way communication is established between the portion 131 and the pipe 11. Air is supplied into a primary intake chamber 133 through the inlet 134. The sound-damping device 17 is placed below this inlet and in the embodiment shown comprises a parallelepiped sheet metal housing in which one side wall has a circular air inlet port 172 and the abutting top wall has an air outlet port 174 with a cross-section substantially equal to that of the inlet port. Air flows from the primary intake chamber 133 into the injector pipes round the end of the nozzles 15. The sound-damping device may have a resonant frequency of 1250 Hz.
