An apparatus for firing ceramic furnaces comprises an oil pump 1 supplying oil fuel at an adjustable rate to a nozzle 6 having radial bores 6 directing the oil particles against the inner wall of a tubular mixing chamber 7 fed with compressed air by a spiral inlet 8; and a baffle system 12 at the outlet end of the mixing chamber causing the mixture to flow axially. The air flow is adjusted by a butterfly valve 9. A metered supply of dolomite is introduced through a connection 9.
