Abstract

1537037 Burners NU WAY HEATING PLANTS Ltd 17 March 1976 [23 April 1975] 16748/75 Heading F4T A burner comprises a tube 17 extending through a tube 13 to define an annular passage 20 and having an inlet 19 for air and an outlet 18 in an end wall 15 of the tube 13, the annular passage 20 having an inlet 21 for fuel and a plurality of outlets in the side wall of the tube 13 adjacent the end wall 15, and an annular baffle 11 on the tube 13 having a plurality of through-passages 12 for air flow. In use fuel gas flows in the passage 20 and air in the tube 17 and in surrounding conduit 10. Further fuel outlets 22 may be provided in the end wall 15, and these and the air outlet 18 may be confronted by a baffle plate 24. The baffle 11 may be part-spherical, conical or planar, and a similar baffle (63) having through-passages (64) may be provided downstream of the fuel outlets, Fig. 4 (not shown); alternatively there may be a downstream baffle (80) defining an annular chamber (79), with radially-extending louvres (78) in its downstream face, supplied with air through conduits (84) extending through upstream baffle (82), Figs 5, 6 (not shown). A nozzle (86) for liquid fuel may be provided in the central tube, and spark igniters (89), (90) adjacent the gas outlets and the liquid fuel nozzle.
