Abstract

A burner for production of a long rod-form flame of small diameter consists of a pipe (12) in which fuel can be fed at greater than atmospheric pressure with at least one primary fuel outlet aperture (20), of specific cross-section at the front tube end and a series of secondary apertures (21) arranged around the primary aperture (20) and directed outwards. A series of tertiary apertures (30) are used to deflect a small amount of fuel at right angles to the burner axis and against an impingement plate (14) having its outlet section between the secondary and tertiary apertures, and forming an annular space (15) around the tertiary apertures (30) having further holes (18) through which air can be sucked in.
