Abstract

922,069. Generating combustion products under pressure. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. Sept. 7, 1961 [Sept. 13, 1960], No. 31570/60. Class 51 (1). The air intake 24 for one of a series of flame tubes 13 arranged in an annular chamber formed by walls 11, 12 has upstream an elongated crosssection, Fig. 2, which progressively changes to a circular section at its downstream end, Fig. 7. A duct 26, increasing in size from the upstream to the downstream end of the intake, diverts air to the spaces between the flame tubes 13 and the walls 11, 12 so as to ensure an even distribution of air through the apertures 21, 22, 23. Baffle members 25, located in the intake, form a throat 27 in the plane of the burners so as to guide the air towards the centre of the intake and into the ducts 26.
