588,847. Generating combustion products under pressure. DARLINGTON, W. H., and METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Nov. 28, 1944, No. 23752. [Class 51 (i)] [Also in Group XI] In a combustion chamber 1 for internal combustion turbine plant in which a fuel jet 2 is directed in counter-current to a stream of compressed air flowing through the chamber, the pipe 3 supplying fuel to the jet 2 is provided with a surrounding sleeve through which passes cooling air from an annular chamber 4 surrounding the combustion chamber and traversed by an air stream 4a diverted from the main stream 1a. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1 the sleeve 5 extends completely across the chamber 1, the cooling air, after traversing the whole length of the sleeve rejoining the secondary stream 4a. Fig. 2 shows a modification in which the sleeve 6 terminates within the combustion chamber, the cooling air in this case escaping through an aperture 6c into the main stream 1a.
