[Class 39 (i)] In a discharge tube comprising at least one suppressor-grid pentode system, the control grid of the system has a uniform mesh and one or more of the other electrodes are designed to cause a space charge to be set up on the cathode side of the suppressor grid which has different values at different parts of the grid, whereby the dynamic characteristic is made symmetrical about a suitable working point. The suppressor grid on the screen grid may be wound with a varying pitch or may consist of wire of varying thickness, or the anode may be spaced from the suppressor grid by a varying amount, or combinations of these constructions may be used. Specification 435,383 is referred to.
