Abstract

[Class 39 (i)] A multiplier comprises an electron source, a control electrode an accelerating electrode, at least one foraminated secondary emitting electrode and a collector. As shown, electrons from a thermionic or photo-electric cathode 1 pass through a control-grid 2 and a grid or ring accelerator 3 and are incident upon a series of grid or mesh secondary-emitting electrodes 4. The collector 5 is permeable and is arranged between the meshes 4 and a final impervious secondary emitter 4<1>.
