Abstract

493,801. Electron multipliers. FARNSWORTH TELEVISION, Inc. June 30, 1937, No. 18152. Convention date, July 18, 1936. [Class 39 (i)] The multiplier consists of two groups of concentric plates 11, 12 and 14, 15 the surfaces of the plates 11, 12 and 14 being made emissive by a coating of thorium or caesium ; electrons from the cathode 6 pass through the control grid 8 and are accelerated by the mesh electrode 28 to impact the plate 11. The emitted secondaries then impact the plate 14 and.the cloud obtained strikes the plate 12 ; the plate 15 is a collector plate connected to an output impedance 27. The electrode 28 is at a higher potential than any other electrode.
