Abstract

471,149. Cathode-ray tubes. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Jan. 27, 1936, No. 22354/37. Convention date, Jan. 30, 1935. Divided out of 471,109. [Class 39 (i)] In a highly evacuated cathode-ray tube in which a mosaic electrode 54 is scanned by an electron beam which is focused by electrostatic or electromagnetic means, the secondary electrons emitted during scanning are collected by a positive electrode 82 and are prevented from straying transversely on to the mosaic elements by an electrode 30b which is arranged adjacent the mosaic and is negative with respect to the electrode 82. The mosaic may be constructed and mounted in a manner which is described in Specifications 471,109 and 471,137. Photo-electrons are collected by the positive grid 68 and the signals are supplied through the amplifier 76 to the transmitter 80. The anode 82 may consist of a silver coating and may assist to focus the electron beam. The diameter of the screen should be slightly less than that of the tube.
