447,875. Projectile fuzes. RHEINSCHE METALLWAAREN -UND MASCHINENFABRIK, 195, Ulmenstrasse, Derendorf, D³sseldorf, and BERGER, F., 7, Dreysestrasse, Sommerda, both in Germany. Oct. 29, 1935, No. 29857. [Class 9 (i)] A direct-action percussion fuze suitable for small calibre high explosive shells comprises the combination of a firing plunger b with a safety split sleeve having jaws d<2> adapted to be opened out by centrifugal force but normally bearing against a conical seat f in the fuze body a, the inertia of the sleeve and the conical seat preventing the arming movement during the period of acceleration. The plunger has a flange b<3> normally blocked by the jaws d<2> anda head b<1> behind a closing membrane a<2>. The jaws d<2> of the safety sleeve are connected by weak webs to a collar d<1> fitting the chamber in the fuze body.
