[Class 9 (i)] Relates to projectile fuzes of the kind in which an explosive capsule 3, after release by a safety device is moved by a spring 9 out of a safety chamber A and into the operative position in a thimble 10 According to the invention, the movement of the capsule is delayed by a hydraulic dashpot device, a part of the capsule act ing as the piston of the dashpot As shown, the thimble 10 contain: a liquid 11 normally confined by a diaphragm 12. This diaphragn is broken by the capsule before the capsule penetrates into the liquid. The capsule is locked in the safe position by balls 5 and sleeves 6, 7 in a known manner. The percussion fuze may be of the instantaneous or time lag type.
