Abstract

254,049. White, A. E., (Bethlehem Steel Co.). April 28, 1925. Projectile fuzes. - Consists mainly in the combination of a substantially transverse tortuous flash-delaying passage 22 with a centrifugal safety detonatorcarrying shutter 27 arranged between a rear chamber containing the firing-hammer 14 of a percussion fuze and a front chamber containing a " booster " charge 11. The shutter 27 is normally held in the safe position. Fig. 3, against a stop 29 by a spring plunger 30; but during flight the shutter moves about its pivot 28 to the armed position, Fig. 1, and is locked in that position by a spring bolt 32 which then snaps into a, hole 33.
