Abstract
422,054. Weaving carpets &c. with inclined warp pile. WOODWARD, GROSVENOR, & CO., Ltd., and GROSVENOR, J. E., Worcester Cross, Kidderminster, Worcestershire. July 3, 1933, No. 18756. [Class 142 (iv)] To produce an inclined pile, each row of tufts 15 is supported on opposite sides by two wefts 10, 11 lying at a different level, whereby after the beat up the tufts are caused to be inclined. In a three-shot Wilton carpet, the two upper wefts are separated by a stuffer warp 17, whilst these wefts are separated from the lowest wefts 12 by the dead parts 13 of the pile warps actuated by the comber board. Additional stuffer warps, actuated by the comber board or by a treadle cam box may also be used to separate the wefts. In tapestry velvets, two series of stuffer warp separating the wefts into three layers are used. The groups of weft threads are separated by binding warps 14 actuated by treadle box cams.
