Abstract
320,635. Thompson, H. La R. July 16, 1928. Carpets and rugs: pile fabrics.-A carpet &c. having the design appearing at the back as in Oriental or hand knotted rugs &c. is woven without stuffer warps on a standard tapestry loom from printed woollen pile warp threads a looped over wires, binder warps b, c, and wefts d, the wefts being grouped in threes by the binder warps and interweaving with the pile warps as shown in Fig. 3. The pile or binding warps or both are carried beyond the edge of the carpet &c. to produce a fringe, and they may be woven with a heading. Jute, worsted and silk warp threads may be used. The carpet &c. may be sheared &c. without back sizing, steaming, or drying.
