416,897. Turbine locomotives. AKTIEBOLAGET LJUNGSTROMS ANGTURBIN, 32, Kungsgatan, Stockholm. Feb. 22, 1934, No. 5876. Convention date, Feb. 23, 1933. [Class 110 (iii).] A turbine locomotive with two reductiongear stages in separate casings has the lowspeed stage situated between the driving wheels while the high-speed stage is arranged at one side of the locomotive and opposite to the turbine which is carried at the other side. The turbine-shaft pinion 15 is divided and meshes with two correspondingly divided gear wheels 16, 17, the shafts 18, 19 of which each have a pinion 20, 21 driving a single gear wheel 22 which engages the final gear wheel 9. The hub of the final gear wheel is hollow to allow ample clearances for the driving wheel axle and the drive is effected through a link connecting the arms 6, 61 on the gear wheel hub and on the axle. A reverse turbine 23 with reduction gear 24, 25 may be associated with the casing of the high-speed stage of the main reduction gearing. The resilient mounting of the toothed rims of the gear wheels relative to the hubs is provided in the high speed gear stage.
