Abstract

Driving-gear of crank type, arrangement of.- The driving-wheels of locomotives are provided with laterally extended hubs 11 having cranks 12 formed integrally therewith, preferably by casting. Preferably the hub is formed also to engage a bearing 14 between the crank and the wheel. The hub may be shrunk on to the shaft 4 or connected detachable by bolts 15 as shown. As shown, the shaft 4 is driven in known manner from a spur train through a sleeve 7 and diaphragm couplings 5, 6, and two constructions of driving-wheels are combined in the one figure, the lower halves being shown with the spokes and hub detachable, while the upper halves are shown solid.
